Crystallization behaviors of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) and poly(L-lactic acid) in their immiscible and miscible blends

Article Abstract:

The crystallization behaviors of the poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) and poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) component in their immiscible and miscible 50:50 blends by real time infrared (IR) spectroscopy is investigated by adjusting the molecular weight of the poly(1-lactic acid) (PLLA) component in poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB)/PLLA blends. It is found that both in the immiscible and miscible blends, the crystallization dynamics of PHB are heavily affected by the presence of crystallized PLLA.

Weak intermolecular interactions during the melt crystallization of poly(L-lactide) investigated by two-dimensional infrared correlation spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy technique is used to analyze the isothermal crystallization behavior of poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) at 150 degree Celsius from the melt. The two-dimensional (2D) correlation analysis of time-dependent IR spectra is used to elucidate the details about the intermolecular interaction of the CH3 and C=O groups and the conformational changes in the C-O-C backbone during melt crystallization process.

Characterization of carbon nanotubes by TEM and infrared spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

Single-walled nanotubes (SWNTs) industrially produced and multiwalled nonotubes (MWNTs) the authors produced by catalysis were investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The observed spectral features, that is the peak position, intensity, and bandwidth, were related to some structural properties of the investigated samples.
