Dependency of particle sizes and colloidal stability of polyelectrolyte complex dispersions on polyanion structure and preparation mode investigated by dynamic light scattering and atomic force microscopy

Article Abstract:

The synthesis and characterization of polyelectrolyte complex (PEC) dispersions by using dynamic light scattering (DLS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) are presented. The results have shown that the medium particle sizes of the complex nanoparticles adsorbed on silicon wafers measured by AFM, in dry state, are close but lower than those measured by DLS, both before and after the complex stoichiometry.

Beta-casein adsorption at liquid interfaces: theory and experiment

Article Abstract:

A procedure for analysis of protein adsorption isotherm at liquid interfaces is proposed in terms of the pi-c curves and a thermodynamic model. Comparing the pi-c data for beta-casein adsorption at the air and the tetradecane water interfaces, suggest that the nature of the interface significantly affects the adsorption process.

Viscous sintering phenomena in liquid - liquid dispersions: Application to the preparation of silicone macroporous aerogels

Article Abstract:

Experimental evidence for viscous sintering phenomena in a gel formed by silicone emulsion droplets is presented. The method described allows transforming an initially liquid emulsion into a rigid and porous material within a short period of time and at room temperature.
