Direct spectroscopic observation of 8-Oxo-7,8-dihydro-2'-deoxyguanosine radicals in double-stranded DNA generated by one-electron oxidation at a distance by 2-aminopurine radicals

Article Abstract:

Photoexcitation of double-stranded oligonucleotides containing a strand site-specifically modified with 2AP and 8-oxo-dG bases with intense nanosecond 308 nm XeCl excimer laser pulses results in the selective two-photon photonization residues. The 2-aminopurine (2AP) radicals generated in the photonization reaction oxidize 8-oxo-dG at a distance were monitored by transient absorption spectroscopy and revealed the existence of biphasic kinetics.

Hot adsorbate-induced retardation of the internal thermalization of nonequilibrium electrons in adsorbate-covered metal nanoparticles

Article Abstract:

The electron-electron scattering dynamics in sulfate-covered gold nanoparticles is investigated using femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy. An analogy is observed between the mechanism described for the slow-down of electron-electron scattering in metal nanoparticles by the hot adsorbates and the hot phonon-induced retardation of hot charge carriers cooling in semiconductors.

Polymer-surfactant layered heterostructures by electropolymerization of phenosafranine in Langmuir-Blodgett films

Article Abstract:

Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of the water-soluble dye phenosafranine (PS) are prepared by its absorption from aqueous dye solution to an arachidic acid (AA) monolayer at the air-water interface. These monolayers can be successfully transferred from the air-water interface to obtain regular and reproducible LB films, as characterized by UV-vis absorption studies.
