Dynamic observation of a thermally activated structure change in 1,3,5-triamino-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene (TATB) by second harmonic generation

Article Abstract:

1,3,5-triamino-2,4,6-trinitrobenze (TATB) tend to manifest substantial structural change in its energetic material upon the application of heat. Results derived from an optical second harmonic generation (SHG) analysis revealed that such a change is relatively similar to the thermal decomposition of octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitor-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine. Such a phenomenon implies that the occurrence of solid structure transitions may be accompanied by chemical decomposition processes, which give rise to variations in SHG intensity.

Static TOF-SIMS surface analysis of a CCL2F2 activated chromia catalyst used for a CI/F exchange reaction

Article Abstract:

Static TOF-SIMS results strongly underpin earlier conclusions from ESCA, XANES, and tracer studies that the accumulation of fluorine and chlorine at the surface of chromia by a heterogeneous reaction with a chlorofluorocarbon compound results in the formation of mixed chromium oxide halide species and not in the nucleation of CrCl3 and/or CrF3 phases.

Pattern selection in the Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction with the addition of an activating reactant

Article Abstract:

The competition between target waves and spiral waves when the system was in an oscillatory state is studied using the ferroin-catalyzed Belosov-Zhabotinsky reaction with the addition of an activating reactant in a reaction-diffusion system. Numerical simulations are carried out using a modified Oregonator model.
