Thermal and photoreactivity of TiO2 at the gas-solid interface with aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the interactions between aldehydes and the surface of rutile TiO2 active toward heterogeneous charge transfer and the formation of surface peroxyacyl radicals. Electron paramagnetic resonance was utilized to carry out the analysis. Paramagnetic centers established by vacuum reduction and ultraviolet radiation were characterized at the dehdyroxylated particle surface. Experimental results indicated that TiO2 surfaces can participate in the initiation and propagation phases of aldehyde photooxidation.

Iron(III) phthalocyanine-modified titanium dioxide: a novel photocatalyst for the enhanced photodegradation of organic pollutants
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to characterize the preparation of a unique iron(III) phthalocyanine/TiO2 photocatalyst. The Philips PW 1050 powder diffractometer was utilized to obtain the X-ray diffractograms of the calcined samples. The adsorption isotherm was then examined based on the Langmuir theory. Experimental results indicated that the photocatalyst supported improved photocatalytic activities for the degradation of organic pollutants.
