Ultrafast dynamics of room temperature ionic liquids after ultraviolet femtosecond excitation
Article Abstract:
Femtosecond pump-probe absorption spectroscopy is used to investigate the photochemistry and relaxation dynamics of four room-temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) after ultraviolet (UV) photolysis. The results have shown that the development of flow-cell systems for highly viscous ionic liquids is required for investigating their ultrafast dynamics.

Reaction between diiodide anion radicals in ionic liquids
Article Abstract:
The analysis of the reaction between [I.sub.2.sup.-] anion radicals in molecular solvents, highly viscous glycerol- [H.sub.2]O mixtures, and ionic liquids is done. It is suggested that the electrostatic repulsion between the diodide anion radicals is undermined by Coulombic shielding in the ionic liquids.
