Effect of micelle composition on the formation of surfactant-templated polymer films
Article Abstract:
Surface tension, small-angle neutron scattering (SANS), Brewster angle microscopy (BAM) and neutron reflectometry are used to characterize the effect that addition of the nonionic surfactants C16E8 and Brij56 had on the formation of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)-templated polyethylenimine (PEI) films. The surface tension and SANS measurements have showed that there is a strong interaction between CTAB and C16E8, in solution micelles, although these micelles do not interact strongly with the polymer in the subphase solution.

Scattering curves of ordered mesoscopic materials
Article Abstract:
Analytical expressions for the scattering functions of ordered mesoscopic materials were derived and compared to experimentally determined curves in a study. The expressions allow the quantitative description of high-resolution synchrotron small-angle X-ray (SAXS) and neutron scattering (SANS) curves from lipid and block co-polymer lyotropic phases, core/shell nanoparticle superstructures, ordered nanocomposites, and ordered mesoporous materials.

Molecular simulations of aqueous electrolyte solubility: 1. The expanded-ensemble osmotic molecular dynamics method for the solution phase
Article Abstract:
Quasi-elastic neutron scattering (QENS) is used to measure the dynamics of water molecules in solution of a model protein backbone, N-acetyl-glycine-methyamide (NAGMA), as a function of concentration. It is seen that the high solute concentration are unique in measuring a single hydration layer at the peptide surface.
