Effect of nanocomposite synthesis on the combustion performance of a ternary thermite
Article Abstract:
The propagation velocity of two ternary composites both containing Al-Fe(sub 2)O(sub 3)-SiO(sub 2) but mixed using different preparation methods are examined. The results show that SiO(sub 2) acts as a heat sink and retards flame propagation reducing the combustion velocity and examination of the flame propagation behavior as the function of preparation method suggests that the microstructure of the two thermite composites greatly affects performance.

Response to comment on "catalysis and temperature dependence on the formation of ZnO nanoparticles and of zinc acetate derivatives prepared by the Sol-Gel route"
Article Abstract:
A response to the comment that Zn-HDS is formed after the addition of LiOH.H2O into the ethanolic Zn precursor solution and can be transformed into ZnO by ultrasonic energy is presented. In the case of reaction carried out at 60 Degree Celsius using water, UV-Vis combined with dispersive EXAFS investigations reveals the dissolution of ZnO particles and the subsequent formation of Zn-HDS particles.

Surface synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles on silica spheres: preparation and characterization
Article Abstract:
A new method for the preparation of SiO2/Zno composite nanoparticles by the simplified controlled double-jet precipitation technique is described. The transmission electron microscopic and scanning electron microscopic images of SiO2/ZnO show that ZnO is coated on the silica (SiO2) surface as a thin layer or single nanoparticles, dependent on the reactant conditions
