Materials and rubbing dependence on azimuthal anchoring energy of rubbed polyimide surfaces
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the alignment of liquid crystal molecules. The association between the optical phase retardation of rubbed polyimide films and the azimuthal anchoring energy was examined. The effects of the side chain of polyimide and the rubbing parameter on optical phase retardation of the rubbed polyimide surfaces and the anchoring energy were then analyzed. In addition, one main chain type and two side chain type polyimide were utilized in the study.

Surfactant-induced alterations of lecithin molecular dynamics in bilayers studied by quasielastic neutron scattering and solid-state NMR
Article Abstract:
Small concentrations of nonionic surfactants in a fluid dipalmitoyl-phosphatidyl-choline (DPPC) bilayer have a significant impact on the molecular DPPC dynamics in the GHz to lower THz frequency regime. These surfactant-induced changes could explain some of the elements of the general softening of fluid bilayers by nonionic surfactants.
