Effective electric surface susceptibility tensor as a probe of the thermal behavior of Langmuir-Blodgett films
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the thermal characteristic of Langmuir-Blodgett monolayeres of DL-dipalmitoyl phosphatidylethanolamine deposited onto a ZnSe substrate using polarized infrared attenuated total reflection over the temperatures ranging from 25 to 140 degrees C. Results indicate that significant information regarding the microscopic structure of the film can be obtained from spectroscopic data by using the normal and tangential components of the electric susceptibility data, without any assumption on the film thickness.

Morphology and adsorbate dependence of ionic transport in dye sensitized mesoporous TiO2 films
Article Abstract:
An electrochemical technique for monitoring ionic transport was developed to study the correlation between diffusion coefficient and porosity in dye coated porous TiO2 films. The presence of adsorbed sensitizer cis-(SCN-)2 bis(2,2'-bipyridyl-4,4'-dicarboxylate)ruthenium(II)in TiO2 colloidal films is found to reduce the original naked film porosity by up to 30%. Results also showed that the effective diffusion coefficient of triiodide does not greatly deviate with respect to the free-stream values.

Thermal evolution of transitional aluminas followed by NMR and IR spectroscopies
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the thermal decomposition of boehmite and bayerite using X-ray diffraction and NMR and IR spectroscopies. 17Al NMR spectroscopy was used to calculate the coordination and site distortion of Al polyhedra while the IR optical properties of transitional aluminas were obtained from IR near-normal specular reflectance method. Research provide new insights into the structural properties of transitional aluminas, defined by their XRD patterns.
