Electron tunneling at the TiO2/substrate interface can determine dye-sensitized solar cell performance

Article Abstract:

The electric potential distribution in the dye-sensitized solar cells plays a vital role in the operation of such cells. Models based on a built-in electric field, which sets the upper limit for the open circuit voltage (Voc) and/or the possibility of a Schottky barrier at the interface between the mesoporous wide band gap semiconductor and the transparent conducting substrate are presented.

Energy level and band alignment for GaAs-alkylthiol monolayer-Hg junctions from electrical transport and photoemission experiments

Article Abstract:

A series of p- and n-GaAs-S-[C.sub.n][H.sub.2n+1] parallel Hg junctions are prepared, and the electronic transport through them is measured. The results have shown that for both types of junctions, electrons are the main carrier type, although holes might contribute significantly to the transport in the p-GaAs system.

Stability issues of Cu(In,Ga)Se2-based solar cells

Article Abstract:

An investigation of stability aspects of the Mo/Cu(In,Ga)Se2/CdS/ZnO solar cell is presented. A model that explains the exceptional radiation hardness and impurity tolerance of Cu(In,Ga)Se2-based devices is suggested.
