Faith in the future

Article Abstract:

The number of science centers has grown rapidly during the 1980s and 1990s. They offer hands-on experience of science and, although this may not automatically promote understanding of science as once thought, they are popular with the public and have increased the public's enthusiasm for science. However, the centers need a new approach to revitalize them. Money is available in the UK from the Lottery fund and a number of projects are taking advantage of this, but a new approach with a national perspective, co-ordination and a network of resources would make a real impact.

"Oh, that way, madness lies ..."(Delirium)

Article Abstract:

Photographic images of people in non-rational states force the viewer to question how to approach seeing pictures. Perception is affected by individual experience, so a single photograph can be seen in many ways. Perhaps the best visual definition of delirium is an image that disturbs the viewer with its intensity, disturbing the viewer with cathartic power.

Formic acid decomposition on polychrystalline platinum and palladized platinum electrodes

Article Abstract:

It has been possible to show control, by electrochemical methods, of the decomposition process of formic acid on a platinum electrode at room temperature. It is suggested that the reaction involves a number of elementary processes.
