Fractional Stokes-Einstein relationship in biological colloids: role of mixed stick-slip boundary conditions
Article Abstract:
Photon correlation spectroscopy was used in measuring the bovine serum albumin mutual diffusion coefficient D as a function of protein concentration. The study seeks to determine the role of interparticle interactions along with possible mixed stick-slip boundary conditions at the protein-water interface on the observed behavior. It has been discovered that D obeys a fractional Stokes-Einstein relation equal to the reciprocal of n(sub sol ) raised to the alpha power. Alpha is equal to 0.5 at a protein concentration of 15 g/dL.

Film tension and film rupture of alkanes at the air-water interface using axisymmetric drop shape analysis
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze film tension and film rupture of alkanes at the air-water interface. Two pairs of immiscible liquids were utilized in the study, namely, hexadecane-water and dodecane-water. An inverted pendant alkane drop was utilized to determine the interfacial tension between alkane and water. Experimental results indicated that the alkane film at the air-water interface supported high tension value.
