GERMANY: ALTANA GROWING OVERSEAS

Article Abstract:

The Coatings and Compounds division of Altana reports a 6% increase in turnover to EUR 310mn in 1999. Due to acquisitions, turnover from special varnishes grew especially in the US and the Far East. Sales in the US rose from EUR 61mn to EUR 74mn and in the Far East from EUR 27mn to EUR 34mn. Altana's products include wire and packaging varnishes and can and coil coatings.

GERMANY: INNOVATION BY DUPONT

DuPont Performance Coatings has developed a new wire enamel, Voltron, that is said to extend the life of electric motors with frequency converter function. The organic insulation layer was treated chemically to make it resistant against partial discharge.
