HUNGARY: BORSODCHEM EXPANDS PLASTICS PRODUCTION
Article Abstract:
Hungarian Kazincbarcika-based BorsodChem is making investments of Ft 12bn in 1999, up from Ft 9bn in 1998. While PVC production will remain unchanged at 290,000 tonnes in 1999, vinyl chloride output is to be raised from 180,000 to 220,000-230,000 tonnes. Together with environmental investments, this involves spending of Ft 1.5bn. BorsodChem is to double the production of hard films from 7,000 tpy and raise that of PVC window profiles from 4,000 tpy to 6,000-7,000 tpy. Production of coextruded pipes will rise from 3,500 tpy to 6,000 tpy. Recycled material will be used here. BorsodChem is to spend Ft 12bn on the construction of a 50-MW power station by the end of 2000.
