GERMANY: TICONA RAISES LFT OUTPUT

Ticona GmbH of Frankfurt, which claims to be the leading supplier of long fibre-reinforced thermoplastics (LFT), is to double the production of the engineering plastics in Kelsterbach to 6,000 tpy. The company's Winona, Minnesota plant has an annual output of 10,000 tonnes. Demand for LFT, which goes 80% to the automotive industry, doubled between 1997 and 1998.

GERMANY: BASF INVESTING IN PAPER CHEMICALS
Article Abstract:
Polyvinyl amines (PVAm), a new kind of paper additives, will be produced by BASF AG in Ludwigshafen. By the end of 1999 BASF is to bring on stream two production plants for paper chemicals and intermediaries in Ludwigshafen. The DM 134mn investment creates 100 new jobs. The new PVAm facility will have an annual capacity of 60,000 tonnes.
