Infrared reflection-absorption spectra of C(sub 2)H(sub 4) and C(sub 2)H(sub 6) on Cu: Effects of surface roughness
Article Abstract:
Infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (IRRAS) of highly symmetrical molecules C(sub 2)H(sub 4) and C(sub 2)H(sub 6) adsorbed as mono- and multi-layers onto copper films were studied to the type of metal-film roughness. The spectra of C(sub 2)H(sub 4) show Raman lines on cold-deposited on Cu films but not on Cu deposited at room temperature whereas for C(sub 2)H(sub 6) the IR spectra from both types of metal films were similar.

Application of fluorescence correlation spectroscopy to the measurement of local temperature in solutions under optical trapping condition
Article Abstract:
Fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) is applied to the quantitative evaluation of the local temperature in solutions under the laser trapping condition in the presence of a near-infrared (NIR) laser beam at 1064 nm. The results are described in view of the balance between the extinction coefficient and the thermal conductivity of the solvents.

Modeling the effects of torsional disorder on the spectra of poly- and Oliga-(p-phenyleneethynlenes)
Article Abstract:
The absorption spectra of phenyleneethynylene oligomers show an unusual change in shape with oligomer length. The unusual aspects of spectra arise from rotation of the phenylene rings about the long axis of the oligomer.
