Interpreting the catalytic voltammetry of electroactive enzymes adsorbed on electrodes

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine steady-state electrocatalytic waveforms supported by redox enzymes adsorbed on electrodes to determine critical mechanistic properties of the active sites associated with catalysis. A steady-state model supporting an enzyme with a two-electron active site with no internal relay stations was developed to analyze the waveforms. Results indicated that the model can generate a good approximation of the catalytic voltammograms of yeast cytochrome c peroxidase.

Marcus theory for outer-sphere heterogeneous electron transfer: Predicting electron-transfer rates for quinones

Article Abstract:

According to Marcus theory, the heterogeneous electron-transfer rates are measured by steady state voltammetry for the reduction of quinones to determine the dependence of ko on molecular size. This dependence is been shown to be useful in predicting the rate constants of related quinones, which can be experimentally difficult to directly determine.
