Investigation of a sodium hypochlorite catholyte for an aluminum aqueous battery system
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine a solution-phase sodium hypochlorite cathode for an aluminum-based seawater battery. The catholyte supports a high power density and a high Faradaic current capacity. It also integrated an aluminum anode, a sodium hydroxide and seawater electrolyte. In addition, the system considered aluminum alloys and pure aluminum as possible anodes. Optimization studies were performed on a half-cell basis using a potentiostat in a three-electrode structure.

Temperature-dependent study of the ultrafast photophysics of all-trans retinal
Article Abstract:
It has been possible to investigate the temperature dependence of intersystem crossing and internal conversion of all-trans retinal in ethanol and in the alkanes hexane and 3-methylpentane. The presence of at least two distinct populations of retinal was identified.
