Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers of long-chain NBD derivatives on silver island films: Well-organized probe layer for the metal-enhanced fluorescence studies

Article Abstract:

A 16-fold metal-enhanced fluorescence (MEF) from well organized and closely packed long-chain nitrobenzoxadiazole (NBD-C16 and NBD-C18) probes on silver island films (SIFs) deposited with the use of the Langmuir-Blodgett technique is reported. The results reveal that the increase in MEF efficiency is justified based on the cooperative effects of the modulations in electronic density of the surface plasmon absorption band of SIFs and defined probe orientation that might lead to preferential excitation.

Dye-labeled silver nanoshell--bright particle

Article Abstract:

Monodispersed silica beads are synthesized by the Stober method and Ru(bpy)(sub 3)(super 2+) complexes are incorporated into the silica beads by physical absorption. The dye-labeled silica bead is made in different sizes to analyze the dependence of emission spectral change on the silica core size for the silver nanoshell.

Metal-enhanced fluoroimmunoassay on a silver film by vapor deposition

Article Abstract:

A fluoroimmunoassay was studied using metal-enhanced fluorescence detection on silver film generated by vapor deposition method. The results showed the properties of a silver film that are required for a maximum increase of fluorescence intensity in a fluoroimmunoassay.
