Mechanism of horizontally aligned growth of single-wall carbon nanotubes on R-plane sapphire

Article Abstract:

Horizontally aligned single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with two alignment modes are synthesized on the same R-plane sapphire wafer by chemical vapor deposition with cationized ferritins as catalysts. Results reveal that the electrostatic repulsion between the catalysts and the substrate prevent the falling of the catalyst to the ground.

Formation of a quenchable dense carbon form by compression of double-walled carbon nanotubes

Article Abstract:

The study pressurized double-walled carbon nanotubes to ~90 GPa using a diamond anvil cell (DAC) at room temperature. High resolution TEM and Raman spectroscopy on the recovered sample revealed that the carbon nanotubes collapse and result in the formation of a highly compressed carbon form.

Growth and structure of carbon nanotube Y-junctions

Article Abstract:

The effect of a catalyst on the growth and structure of carbon nanotube Y-junctions (CNTYs) using chemical vapor deposition is examined. The results have shown that both the catalyst and the carbon source affect the formation of CNTYs.
