Modeling of macromolecular alignment in nematic virus suspensions. Application to the prediction of NMR residual dipolar couplings
Article Abstract:
The alignment of macromolecules in dilute nematic suspensions of filamentous phages is described in terms of steric and electrostatic contributions. The residual dipolar couplings between (super 15)N and (super 1)H nuclear spins in the ig-binding domain of streptococcal protein G are calculated, and their dependence on ionic strength and virus dimension or concentration is analyzed.

Novel structural motifs in clusters of dipolar spheres: Knots, links and coils
Article Abstract:
A rich variety of structures of putative global energy minima for clusters bound by the Stockmayer (Lennard-Jones plus point dipole) potential and these are revealed as the cluster size and dipole strength is varied. Closed-loop structures with the topology of knots and links are most remarkable groups.

Spherical cell approach for the effective viscocity of suspensions
Article Abstract:
The effective viscosity of suspensions of spherical particles is addressed by employing the spherical cell approach. A representative part of the suspension is a spherical cell which contains a particle surrounded by the continuous phase.
