Molecular ionic probes: a new class of Hill reagents and their potential for nanofabrication and biometallocatalysis
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze a novel class of Hill reagents and their application for nanofabrication and biometallocatalysis. Thylakoids were determined from spinach leaves and suspended in Walker's assay medium. Hill reactions were carried out by determining the O2 evolution in thylakoids. Experimental results indicated that the ability of a species to function as a Hill reagent correlates with its redox potential and molecular interaction with photosynthetic membranes.

Protein-protein interactions between the photosystem I reaction center core and the PsaC subunit
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the protein-protein interactions between the photosystem I reaction center core and the PsaC subunit. Their functional reconstitution revealed that hydrophobic interactions are dominant in stabilizing the reaction center. Results are consistent with an orientation of PsaC in its binding site such that the F(sub B) cluster of the subunit is near the core redox center F(sub X) in agreement with previous research results.

Interfacial photoredox molecular interactions: a new class of Hill reagents for photosystem II reaction centers
Article Abstract:
The results of an extensive experimental survey and characterization of over 20 species of transition-metal compounds for their activity in the Hill reaction at the lipid-water interface of photosystem II (PSII) membrane fragments is reported. The findings could be important for photosynthesis, nanoscale science, and nanofabrication in the field of biometallocatalysis.
