Molecular salvation in water-methanol and water-sorbitol mixtures: The roles of preferential hydration, hydrophobicity, and the equation of state
Article Abstract:
The equation of state and salvation of small apolar solutes are studied by performing the molecular dynamics simulations of aqueous mixtures of methanol and sorbitol over a range of binary compositions, density and temperature. The results show the increasing sorbitol concentration under isthermal, isobaric conditions resulting in monotonic increases in apolar solute excess chemical potential over the range of experimentally relevant temperatures.

Nanofibrillar networks in poly(ethyl methacrylate) and its silica nanocomposites
Article Abstract:
Polymer nanocomposites generally refer to organic/inorganic materials designed so that the matrix consists of a macromolecule to which an inorganic nanoscale particle is physically added. Advances in polymer materials design seek to incorporate functionality, enhance existing properties, and reduce weight without compromising mechanical properties or processability.

Structural hierarchy in melt-processed poly(3-hexyl thiophene)-montmorillonite clay nanocomposites: Novel physical, mechanical, optical, and conductivity properties
Article Abstract:
Poly(3-hexyl thiophene) (P3HT) organically modified montmorillonite (om-MMT) polymer nanocomposites (PNCs) are prepared in the melt-cooled state. The hierarchical structures up to third order, namely, side chain mesomorph formation followed by the interchain lamellar structure of P3HT and finally its intercalation within the clay is observed.
