Monitoring interface interactions by XPS at nanometric tin oxides supported on Al2O3 and Sb2O(sub x)
Article Abstract:
The routine use of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), to determine the oxidation state of elements in materials, can vary as an effect of the interaction of the nanoparticles with another material acting as substrate or as a matrix host. A study on these determinations reveals the need of using another parameter such as the Auger parameter to characterize oxide nanoparticles in composite systems.

Wet-chemical synthesis of doped nanoparticles: optical properties of oxygen-deficit and antimony-doped colloidal SnO2
Article Abstract:
Colloidal solutions of rutile-type SnO2 nanoparticles with particle diameters ranging from 4 to 9 nm is prepared in an autoclave at elevated temperatures. Reaction schemes are provided to explain the formation of n-doped particles under the various reaction conditions applied.
