Equilibrium behavior and dilational rheology of polyelectrolyte/insoluble surfactant adsorption films: Didodecyldimethylammonium bromide and sodium poly(styrenesulfonate)

Article Abstract:

The surface pressure of monolayers of an insoluble surfactant, didodecyldimethylammonium bromide (DODAB) is measured onto subphases with different concentrations of poly(styrenesulfonate) (PSS) and at different temperatures. The results indicate that it is the film formed by the DODAB molecules and the first dense polymer layer that determines the surface viscoelastic moduli of this system.

Structure of polyelectrolyte solutions at a charged surface

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the structure of polyelectrolyte solutions at a charged surface using density functional theory and Monte Carlo simulations. The polymer molecules were modeled as freely jointed chains of charged hard spheres, the counterions and co-ions as charged hard spheres, and the surface was a planar, impenetrable hard wall with a uniform surface charge density.
