Nucleation, growth and relaxation of thin films: metal(100) homoepitaxial systems

Article Abstract:

Research is presented demonstrating the use of a simple model to explain relaxation, nucleation and growth in films of thin metal. Experiment and theory are used in a synchronous and synergistic way to reveal new insights into this process.

Modeling the interaction of the phosphate group in nucleotides with copper(I) in the gas phase: reactivity of Cu+ with orthophosphoric acid and its monomethyl ester

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the use of mass spectrometry experiments to investigate the gas-phase reactivity of the cation Cu+ with orthophosphoric acid are presented. It was possible to obtain final binding energies using extended basis sets.

Growth trajectories of disk crystals of ice growing from supercooled water

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the rate of growth of an ice disk crystal from water which is pure and supercooled are presented. Particular emphasis is placed on the disk thickness and the time evolution of the radius of the disk.
