Production of large-diameter single-wall carbon nanotubes by adding Fe to a NiCo catalyst in laser ablation

Article Abstract:

The production of single-wall carbon nanotubes with controlled diameter distributions by laser ablation is enabled by simple introduction of Fe into a conventional NiCo catalyst. The Fe helps increase the aggregation rate of metal in laser ablation and enlarges the crystal lattice constant of metal catalysts because of a change in the crystal structure from Ni to Ni3Fe, NiFe2, which then results in the enlargement of metal particles and the growth of larger diameter SWNTs.

Electronic properties of n-type Carbon nanotubes prepared by CF(sub 4) plasma fluorination and amino functionalization

Article Abstract:

A study on single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) that were fluorinated by CF(sub 4) plasma exposure and functionalized with 1,2-diaminoethane and reactions at both the ends of the rod were observed to increase with fluorine content. The study revealed that the back-gated SWNT devices show p-type semiconducting behavior for CF(sub 4)-functionalized SWNTs and n-type semi conducting behavior for ammino-functionalized SWNTs.

Electronic structures and conductivity in peptide nanotubes

Article Abstract:

The investigation of the conductivity of the modified cyclic D,L-peptide nanotubes through calculations of electron tunneling probability was found to depend on the length of the molecule, L, as [e.sup.-[beta](E)L], where the tunneling beta(E)-factor is strongly energy-dependent.
