Relative optical absorption of metallic and semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes
Article Abstract:
The relative optical absorbance of metallic to semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) changes significantly upon bundling and annealing of the carbon nanotubes intensifies the tube-tube interaction to induce further change in the optical absorbance ratio. The interaction between carbon nanotube and surfactant causes similar effects and hence it shows that quantification of the bulk separation of SWNTs by the optical absorption method is possible, but only after the elimination of these artificial effects.

Quantum dot modified multiwalled carbon nanotubes
Article Abstract:
A new method for the fabrication of a new class of multiwalled carbon nanotubes/quantum dots (MWNT/QD) heterostructures is reported. The results have shown that QDs on bare MWNT display no luminescence, while the MWNT at the rate of Si[O.sub.2]QD composites have retained their luminescence.
