Silver nanoparticles capped by long-chain unsaturated carboxylates
Article Abstract:
The preparation and capping of silver nanoparticles by several unsaturated long-chain carboxylates was studied. To characterize the effect of the chain length, its configuration and the degree of unsaturation on the size distribution of the nanoparticles, UV-visible and FTIR spectroscopy and high-resolution electron microscopy were used. The results showed that unsaturated carboxylates in the cis configuration were useful stabilizers for the control of the size of particles and and their surface properties.

Multiphoton-excited luminescence from diamond nanoparticles
Article Abstract:
The highly efficient photoluminescence (PL) from diamond nanoparticles of various diameters = 5, 100, 400, 700 and 1000 nm was seen. The PL was caused by laser pulsed ultraviolet and infrared light. It is assumed that the PL is due to structural defects, impurities and the graphite-like phase excited by a relaxation of the multiphoton-produced excitons. With the UV one-photon excitation, the intrinsic PL from the species with the same bands was observed.
