Sonochemical synthesis of gold nanoparticles: Effects of ultrasound frequency

Article Abstract:

The sonochemical reduction of Au(II) was performed to produce Au nanoparticles in the presence of a small amount of 1-propanol at different frequencies. The results show that the rate of Au(III) reduction as well as the size distribution of Au particles are regulated by the chemical effects of cavitation and are not significantly affected by the physical effects accompanying ultrasound-induced cavitation.

Formation of C=C and Si=Cl adstructures by insertion reactions of cis-dichloroethylene and perchloroethylene on Si(100)2 X 1

Article Abstract:

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and temperature programmed desorption (TPD) mass spectroscopy are used to study the room-temperature adsorption and thermal evolution of cis-dichloroethylene (DCE) and perchloroethylene (PCE) on Si(100)2 X 1. The results show that the insertion mechanism might be quite common in the surface chemistry of chlorinated ethylenes on the 2 X 1 surface.

Sonochemical synthesis of well-dispersed gold nanoparticles at the ice temperature

Article Abstract:

A newly modified sonochemical strategy developed to initiate AuCl(sub 4)(super -) reduction without addition of alcohols and surfactants is presented. From both UV-vis and TEM studies, the citrate dosages gave a drastic effect on the formation of the gold particles.
