Spectroscopic implications of partially quenched orbital angular momentum in OH-water complex

Article Abstract:

A model is developed to treat the rotational energy levels of the OH-water complex with effective C (sub 2nu) symmetry that accounts for the difference potential (rho) which is responsible for quenching of the OH orbital angular momentum, and the spin-orbit interaction of the OH monomer. The changes in the rotational energy level structure are manifested in the microwave and infrared spectra of the OH-water complex.

Vibrationally controlled chemistry: Mode- and bond-selected reaction of CH3D with Cl

Article Abstract:

Selective vibrational excitation controls the competition between the C-H and C-D bond cleavage in the reaction of CH3D with Cl, which forms either HCl + CH2D or DCl + CH3. It was observed that excitation of the symmetric C-H stretch of CH3D accelerates the H-atom abstraction seven times more than excitation of the antisymmetric C-H stretch even though the two lie within 80 cm(super -1) of the same energy.

Product channels of the HCCO + NO reaction

Article Abstract:

The product branching ratio of the ketenyl radical (HCCO) + NO reaction was investigated using laser photolysis or infrared technique. Ethyl ethynyl ether was used as the HCCO radical precursor.
