Structural and magnetic investigations for the doping effect of nonmagnetic impurity on the spin-Peierls-like transition in a quasi-one-dimensional magnet: 1-(4'-nitrobenzyl)pyridinium bis(maleonitriledithiolato)nickelate

Article Abstract:

Ten nonmagnetic doped compounds with the formula [NO(sub 2)BzPy]-[Au(sub x)Ni(sub 1-x)(mnt)(sub 2)] (x= 0.01- 0.73) are characterized and synthesized structurally and the non- magnetic impurity effects on the spin-Peierls-like transition in a quasi-one-dimensional magnet of [NO(sub 2)BzPy] [Ni(mnt)(sub 2)] is investigated. The nonmagnetic impurities suppress the spin- Peierls- like transition, and the transition temperature T(sub c) reduces at an average rate of 221 (12) K/ percentage of nonmagnetic dopant.

Precise fabrication of point defects in self-assembled three-dimensional macroporous photonic crystals

Article Abstract:

An electron-beam irradiation under a gas atmosphere is used for fabricating defects in three-dimensional (3D) CdS macroporous photonic crystals (PCs) with a variable pressure scanning electron microscope. This provides a convenient and straightforward method of introducing various designed defects into 3D PCs for photonic-band-gap-based applications.
