Structural characteristics and reactivity/reducibility properties of dispersed and bilayered V(sub 2)O(sub 5)/TiO(sub 2)/SiO(sub 2) catalysts
Article Abstract:
Dispersed V(sub 2)O(sub 5)/TiO(sub 2)/SiO(sub 2) catalysts with various V/Ti atomic ratios were prepared to study the interfacial reactions between surface layers and the catalytic properties of surface metal oxides. The presence of surface titanium oxide and vanadium oxide species was confirmed by different characterization techniques. The results revealed that the surface structures of the dispersed V(sub 2)O(sub 5)/TiO(sub 2)/SiO(sub 2) catalysts are a strong function of environmental conditions.

FTIR spectroscopic studies of silication of gamma-alumina with FCC catalysts via steaming
Article Abstract:
The framework vibrations, surface hydroxyls and pyridine acidity of silicated gamma-aluminas with and without transition metal ions are investigated by steaming with FCC catalyst microspheres. It is shown that steaming alpha-alumina results in the silication of the surface. Orthosilicate species also interact with strong and medium-strong Lewis acid sites to form Bronsted acid sites.
