Surface adsorbed water on NaCl and its effect on nitric acid reactivity with NaCl powders

Article Abstract:

The specifics of the NaCl sample preparation can have significant effect on the amount of strongly adsorbed water (SAW) on the surface is demonstrated by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and electron microscopy. It is found that the NaCl small crystallites, with the largest amount of strongly adsorbed water, do show a small increase in the initial reaction probability for the reaction with HNO(sub 3).

Purification and opening of carbon nanotubes using steam

Article Abstract:

Purification and opening of carbon nanotubes are carried out by treatment of as-made single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with pure steam at 1 atm pressure. The comparison between the steam purification and the standard nitric acid purification treatment have indicated that stem is less aggressive towards damage to the tubular nanotube wall structure and forms fewer functional groups.

Hydrogen bonding in allene complexes with nitric and nitrous acids: theoretical and infrared matrix isolation study

Article Abstract:

The complexes formed by HNO3 and the trans-HONO isomer with allene in argon matrixes are identified and characterized by help of FTIR spectroscopy. The experimental spectra proved the formation of two types of complexes with slightly different structures for the two systems.
