Modification of the Adam-Gibbs model of glass transition for consistency with experimental data
Article Abstract:
The Adam and Gibbs model of relaxation of liquid and polymeric glass-formers based on the configurational entropy S(sub c) was shown to be deficient in accounting for several important experimental facts and phenomenology. The decrease of the glass temperature when the glass-former was confined in nanometer pores was one of its shortcomings along with the deviation from a linear relation between log(relaxation time) and (TSc)-1 found generally in fragile liquids.

In-situ observation of hydrogenation of ethylene on a Pt(111) surface under atmospheric pressure by infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the hydrogenation of ethylene on a Pt(111) surface during the presence of gaseous ethylene and hydrogen in the 10(super 3) Pa range. Infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy was utilized to carry out the analysis. The influence of species on the hydrogenation of ethylene was discussed. Results indicated that the rate of hydrogenation does not depend on the coverage of di-delta-bonded ethylene or ethylidyne.
