The making of AstraZeneca

Article Abstract:

Astra of Sweden and Zeneca Agricultural Enterprise of the UK have completed their $37 billion merger, creating a new London-based company, AstraZeneca. The merger of a pharmaceutical company and an agricultural chemical company does result in a lot of synergy, insists Bob Woods, president of Zeneca Ag Products North America. The merger, for one, gives Zeneca access to Astra's molecule library from a purely chemical perspective, says Woods.

New EPA approvals

Article Abstract:

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved several herbicide products in 1st qtr 2000 These include Griffin LLC's Glyphosate Original herbicide and Aventis Crop-Science Mature Products Division's Connet 20WSP postemergence herbicide. EPA has also allowed Gustafson to market its pre- mixed, ready-to-use fungicide seed treatment for on-farm liquid seeding systems called Raxil MD.
