Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the overall electrode process. Taking both mass transport and charge transfer into consideration, a general expression for the electrochemical impedance of one-equivalent electrode processes at dark semiconductor was obtained. The measurements highlighted either the charge transfer or mass transport on the electrochemical impedance. It was shown that the impedance expression can be used to describe reactions involving direct exchange of majority charge carriers or direct injection of minority charge carriers followed by a recombination step.

Electron tunneling across hexadecanethiolate monolayers on mercury electrodes: reorganization energy, structure, and permeability of the alkane/water interface

Article Abstract:

The existence of a hexadecanethiolate monolayer on a mercury drop electrode makes it possible to extent kinetic analysis of the electroreduction of kinetically facile redox probes into an otherwise inaccessible area of large overpotentials. The experimental values of the reorganization energies of the ferrocene and iridium probes are particularly useful.
