Laser-induced size reduction of noble metal particles
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to demonstrate that the laser-induced size reduction of gold particles correlates with the heating of the particles. The dependence of the maximum diameter of the gold particles on the laser fluence was determined to carry out the demonstration. Results indicated that the high temperature causing melting and vaporization is the result of the absorption of the laser energy by the particles and low heat transfers to the surrounding water.

Visible laser induced fusion and fragmentation of thionicotinamide-capped gold nanoparticles
Article Abstract:
The visible laser induced transformation of thionicotinamide (TNA) gold nanoparticles and the spectral properties of the changes in the morphology of these particles are studied. Results show that during short-term laser irradiation of TNA-capped gold nanoparticles, larger-size particles are formed due to the melting of aggregates. During long-term irradiation, the fragmentation of nanoparticles is observed.
