Two-dimensional reaction free surfaces of catalytic reaction: effects of protein conformational dynamics on enzyme catalysis
Article Abstract:
A two-dimensional (2D) multisurface reaction free energy description of the catalytic cycle is described that has connected the multi-time-scale conformational dynamics as well as dispersed enzymatic kinetics to the classical Michaelis-Menten equation. The dynamic theory has built the relationship between the protein conformational dynamics and the enzymatic reaction kinetics and has described the enzyme fluctuation-assisted catalysis.

Tuning supported catalyst reactivity with dendrimer-templated Pt-Cu nanoparticles
Article Abstract:
The effects of particle composition on heterogeneous catalysis were studied using dendrimer-encapsulated nanoparticles as precursors to supported Pt-Cu catalysts. Incorporating Cu into Pt nanoparticles had opposite effects on the two test reactions and infrared spectroscopy of the supported nanoparticles indicated that electronic effects were minimal for these materials.

Sustainable reaction in tunable solvents
Article Abstract:
The study reviews applications involving improved transport, catalyst recycling, and product separation as well as the in situ generation of catalyst. It concluded that although such tunable solvents are in no way a panacea, they do offer the chemical community alternatives that can often be applied creatively to many reaction opportunities.
