US: GROWTH SEEN IN PRINTING INKS MARKET

Article Abstract:

The US' demand for printing inks is forecast to grow at an annual rate of 4.6% to US$ 5.4bn by the year 2002 from US$ 4.29bn at present. Demand for digital printing inks is forecast to grow at an annual rate of 12%, flexo printing inks 6.9% and litho printing inks 4.8% annually. In 1997 publishing products accounted for 38% of the market, packaging printing 33% and advertising media 19%. Sun Chemical is the leading supplier, with 19% of the market. It is followed by Flint Inks (15%) and Alper and Inx International (11% each).

TURKEY: LABEL INKS BY AKZO NOBEL

Akzo Nobel Inks aims to gain 50% of the Turkish market for label printing inks by the end of year 2001. It has set up a joint venture called Akzo Nobel Baski Murekkepleri near Istanbul.
