US: JOTUN TAKES OVER PRS

PRS (Products, Research, Service Inc.), a US producer of marine paints, industrial varnishes and anti-corrosion coatings based in Belle Chase, Louisiana, has been acquired by Jotun. Norway's leading producer of paints and varnishes thus expands its presence in North America. The US company is active in the region around the Gulf of Mexico. In spring 1999 Jotun took over the entire stock of the joint venture Jotun Valspar Marine Coatings.

US: PIEDMONT PAINTS BOUGHT BY PEERLESS COATINGS
Article Abstract:
In a deal between two private producers of OEM metal and wood coatings in the US, Toccoa, Georgia-based Piedmont Paints and Primers Inc. has been taken over by Peerless Coatings Inc. of Cullman, Alabama. Piedmont will continue to operate under the old name as a subsidiary of Peerless. The combined annual turnover of the two companies amounts to about US$ 15mn.
