Variable NMR spin-lattice relaxation times in secondary amides: effect of Ramachandran angles on librational dynamics
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the librational dynamics of secondary amides, with emphasis on the effects of Ramachandran angles on librational dynamics. Several amides were prepared by reacting the appropriate acid chloride with amine in a solution of triethylamine and methylene chloride or ether. Experimental results indicated fast deuterium spin-lattice relaxation rates correlated with a damped or slow amide libration when the amide is alkyl substituted.

Impeded rotation of a protein in a sol-gel matrix
Article Abstract:
A study to investigate a group of materials known as sol-gels was conducted to monitor the rotational diffusion of two probes, namely, a small dye molecule and a typical globular protein, using time resolved fluorescence anisotropy. The rotational dynamics of sulforhodamine 101 and magnesium-substituted myoglobin were investigated in three separate gel preparations. Experimental methodology and results are presented.
