X-ray absorption edge and EXAFS studies of the blue copper site in stellacyanin: Effects of axial amide coordination

Article Abstract:

The blue copper sites in Cucumis sativus stellacyanin and Rhus vernicifera stellacyanin are investigated by X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) in order to probe the effects of axial amide coordination. Blue copper proteins exhibit high-redox potentials and rapid electron-transfer rates compared to normal tetragonal copper complexes.

Three-dimensional self-assembled monolayer (3D SAM) of n-alkanethiols on copper nanoclusters

Article Abstract:

A thorough study on l-octanethiol (C8), l-decanethiol (C10), and l-dodecanethiol (C12) capping on copper nanoparticles as the protecting groups is presented. Spherical nanoparticles of ~3-5 nm are produced, although the fcc copper peak in XRD and the surface plasmon absorption band of copper are not detected.

Photochemistry of K-590 in the room-temperature bacteriorhodospin photocycle

Article Abstract:

The photochemistry of the K-590 intermediate in the room-temperature bacteriorhodopsin photocycle is examined with picosecond time resolution. The wavelength of the laser pulse is selected to optimize their respective functions in terms of photolysis or monitoring changes in absorbance.
