X-ray diffraction and STM study of reactive surfaces under electrochemical control: Cl and l on Cu (100)
Article Abstract:
In-situ scanning tunneling microscopy in combination with in-situ surface X-ray diffraction, with a particular focus on adsorbate and potential dependent surface relaxation phenomena, is used to study the surface structure of Cu(100) modified by chloride and iodide in an electrochemical environment. The findings suggest a predominantly ionic nature of Cl-Cu bond under the given electrochemical conditions and the electrochemical annealing effect is mediated by weakened Cu-Cu bond.

Interaction of Pd and PdCl2 with cellulose: A theoretical investigation
Article Abstract:
An investigation is conducted by using density functional calculations to study the reactions between Pd and PDCl2 with cellobiose. PD(II) chloride is shown to promote the polymeric chain cleavage and rising rearrangements, whereas Pd is found to insert in to a C-O bond site in the cyclic carbohydrate moiety with binding energies of -0.2 and -0.5 eV at the Cl'-O5' and the O1-(C-1) bonds, respectively.

Carbon tetrachloride as a thermoporometry liquid probe to study the cross-linking of styrene copolymer networks

Mesh size distributions (MSDs) of swollen cross-linked styrene copolymer networks are calculated by thermoporometry using CCl4 as a probe liquid. A clear correlation is established between the average mesh size of the swollen polymer network on one hand and the benzoyl peroxide groupEs content and swelling ratio on the other hand.
