Occurrence and constitution of natural and synthetic ferrihydrite, a widespread iron oxyhydroxide
Article Abstract:
A systemic research was conducted to examine the properties of ferrihydrite and its modes of occurrence, to characterize its composition and crystal structure and to investigate some of its features that are important to the minerals industry. The objective was to address the problems caused by its definitive identification and its common designation as amorphous iron hydroxide and colloidal ferric hydroxide. Results indicated that the characteristics of ferrihydrite depend on dry thermal transformation, particle size and the presence of adsorbed species.

Organometallic polymers with transition metals in the main chain
Article Abstract:
Recent advances in the field of synthetic organometallic chemistry has revived interest in the development of metal-containing polymers. The idea, which has been considered by scientists for nearly half a century, is expected to receive a boost from the discovery of the new metal-containing compounds. Polymer science, traditionally dominated by organically-based polymers, should benefit both technologically and fundamentally from applications derived from the new macromolecular structures.
