Gibbs energies of transfer of cations from water to mixed aqueous organic solvents
Article Abstract:
A discussion of the Gibbs energies of transfer of cations from water to aqueous/organic mixtures is presented. There is still relatively little information about the solvation energetics of ions in aqueous-organic mixtures. There will be challenges associated with gaining reliable data for multivalent cations, as it is important to take account of the possible effects of ion-pairing and hydrolysis.

Standard partial molar volumes of electrolytes and ions in nonaqueous solvents
Article Abstract:
The compilation of the standard partial molar volumes (V degree) of electrolytes and ions when diluted in nonaqueous solution is discussed. It is found that the V degree of an electrolyte is the limiting value of its partial molar volume as the concentration of the electrolyte, c, approaches infinite dilution in the solvent.

Ion pairing
Article Abstract:
Ion pairing, which describes the partial association of oppositely charged ions in electrolyte solutions to form distinct chemical species called ion pairs, is presented. It is generally concluded that depending on the magnitude of the charges on the ions and the relative permittivity of the solvent, ion pairs could be treated as real species in the solution.
