Homogeneous hydrogenation of carbon dioxide

Article Abstract:

An oxygen sink is needed in the hydrogenation of carbon-dioxide (CO2) to reduce the CO2 below the formic acid level. CO2 acts as the oxygen sink in the hydrogenation of CO2 to formaldehyde and this creates a problem to the environment in the use of CO2 as a carbon source. The hydrogenation reaction of CO2 shows high catalytic activity. The hydrogenation products of CO2 are industrially prepared from carbon monoxide. Heterogeneous catalysis is required for the industrial use of hydrogenation of CO2.

Homogeneous catalysis in supercritical fluids

Article Abstract:

Several studies have been carried out to examine homogeneous catalysis in supercritical fluids. A number of them have characterized reactions which are homogeneously catalyzed by metal-containing complexes. Some of the experimental concerns considered by these studies include pressure, density, temperature, solubility of catalyst precursors, and reactivity of supercritical fluids. Results have significantly advanced the use of supercritical fluids in high-pressure operations.

Supercritical fluids in heterogeneous catalysis

Article Abstract:

Several studies have been carried out on supercritical fluids in heterogeneous catalytic reactions. These studies have demonstrated the unique characteristics of fluids and their applications in heterogeneous catalysis. Some have elucidated several ways to improve and control heterogeneous catalytic reactions. These correlate with the control of phase behavior, elimination of gas and liquid transfer resistances and product separation.
