Mechanisms of maintaining genetic stability by homologous recombination
Article Abstract:
Homologous recombination (HR) plays a major role in double-strand break (DBS) and replication fork repairs in blocked DNA replication-coupled repair systems, where a four-way junction, called the Holliday junction (HJ), is formed by unwinding the stalled fork, to allow the newly synthesized strands and the parent strands to anneal. The RecA protein is a recombination protein forming HJ by strand exchange and the RecBCD pathway is involved in DBS in response to repair.

Evaluation of molecular models for the affinity maturation of antibodies: Roles of cytosine deamination by AID and DNA repair
Article Abstract:
Affinity maturation of antibodies in higher eukaryotes alters antibody proteins in DNA in a programmed fashion leading to mutations in one part of a chromosomal gene, for an effective immunity response. A key protein required for this pathway is activation-induced deaminase (AID), which catalyzes deamination of cytosines in DNA and models like Bubble-Access model and R-Loop model are suggested for the methods in which AID targets transcribing genes.
