Recent advances in the chemistry of dinitrogeen complexes
Article Abstract:
The more diversified transition metals besides metals relevant to biological dinitrogen (N2)-fixing systems, such as Fe, Mo, and V, can cause the reduction of nitrogen, as revealed by analyses of the syntheses and reactivities of N2 complexes. The hydrazido(2-) (MNNH2) complexes which are easily derived from Mo and W N2 complexes, and the nitrido (MN) complexes prepared from gaseous nitrogen have been the focus of current N2 complex work attempting to understand the N2 reduction mechanism.

Oxidation of B, BH, BH2 and BmHm species: thermochemistry and kinetics
Article Abstract:
A review of the literature published between 1956 and 1996 on the thermochemistry and kinetics underlying the oxidation of elemental boron and borane is presented. The research indicates that boron hydrides have high enthalpies of formation and are highly reactive radicals. As such, the use of B2H6 and NaBH4 as precursors for novel compounds has become widespread in synthetic organic, medicinal and metaloorganic chemistry.
